Where can you buy grade 8 external tooth lock washers? Like the ones used on rod bolts. Thanks Tracy Martin

Tracy,
From what I can find, the hardness would probably be around Rc40 (min) for washers made of 1050-1065 Steel
A few places ...
McMaster Carr
Aspen Fasteners
... these might be harder, might have to contact them to find out

No luck with any body yet. I guess those external washers were made for only a few engines. It amazes me the lack of help with the fastener people. Tracy Martin

For our high vibration applications (underground mining, crushers, etc.) we use Nordloc lock washers. They seem to work pretty well, we used to hear from customers about bolts working loose, but since we switched to Nordlocs it has pretty much disappeared.
I believe they are fairly hard, but don't know if they have a grade 8. They have a zinc plated or SS option. I think usually Fastenal carries them, at least around here.
cheers,
Creek
