A young man down the road from me picked up this WD/WD45 at an auction yesterday. There was too much paint to see the number this afternoon, so he'll have to scrape it off tomorrow. It was redecaled as a WD45, but I'm betting it's a WD. Or at least it has a WD motor (side plate). The shifter is bent, but it was done so the steering shaft would fit next to it. Is a B front end strong enough for this weight? The engineering on it is pretty involved for the power steering to fit. They had to move the steering wheel over a bit, & consequently moved the seat a bit as well. Also, it's got 2 different rear wheels. I think one's from a WC, but don't know about the other (neither is from a WD).

He has no idea what the previous owner used it for, I wonder if it was something specific (hence the B front end). Or if he just liked to tinker & cobbled the whole thing up.

Front wheels are from a 1938 B Allis Chalmers. The cast centers are from a B anyway. The rims appear to be Farmall .

I'm going to see if he wants to put it back to as near as possible as it's supposed to be, with a regular front end & rear wheels.

Well, he's obviously proud of it, and in my book, that's a step in the right direction no matter what it looks like! (Truthfully, the paint looks better than most of my fleet!)

That he is! While I was there, his mother told me it's all my fault! That made me feel all warm & fuzzy inside.

The universal answer to all questions is yes, how much do you want to spend?

I'm a bit leery about the front end. Do you think it can take the weight?

Whats that song about the Cadillac car that Johnny Cash sings?
Hey, looks like the kid is happy and thats all that matters.
![]() Not sure on the weight on the front end, that is a little light. Don't think I would want to hang weights on the front end.

Heck there are all kinds of "original " WD's out there. If I had it, I might be inclined to leave the farmer engineered items the way they are. I wouldn't be afraid of the front end unless you plan to put a loader on it or end a lot of wheelies buy shoving the clutch in.
Keep it greased and good bushings in it and it might out-live you.
