Heres a question for you D15 experts. Can a D15 series I transmission and transmission housing be used on a D15 series II tractor?  I plan on using the Series II final drives and the factory 3 point hitch.

Thanks in advance

I would certainly believe so, the same 3 point hitch setup was for both series I & II. That same option was avalible for both series. HTH

I know the series II had a different brake system. Does it swap over with the axle housings?

the differenc in the brakes was the lining on the shoes.  As said, the factory 3pt will bolt on the series I tractor, Just be sure to conastantly check the mounting bolts to be sure that they're tight. Until the D17 became the series IV, an Allis 3pt had a lot to be desired. The early designs did not have enough bolt in different directions to handle the stress loads that are incountered with a 3pt. The AC adapter from the snap couple is much better: the loade is carried by the lift arms and it will pivot up under the tractor at the SC bell.

I have a D-14 transmission in a D-15D series I. Only part number different was 2nd gear and the D-14 number was updated to the D-15 number in the parts book . You can change from snap coupler to 3 pt without changing the housing.
Nothing is impossible if it is properly financed

Found this neglected series I nerrow front with a good tranny.  My series II  has a bad transmission and good engine. I have read and spoke with folks about repairing the transmission but even my ring gear has a tooth that is chiped.  Been looking for a donor tractor for a long time and i believe i have found one.  Sounding good as a swap project.
Thanks for your input and suggestions
