Hi-I want to use this cylinder on this tractor but it has just the one port. I'll use that for the lift side. What do I do with the other hose/port?
I've heard of just venting it to the atmosphere. How does a guy put a "breather" on that end? Where can I get one of these "breathers"?

You probably need a setup like someone put on my D17. It has what looks like might be a custom made steel return line along side the original steel supply line and a pair of spool valves. For supply they just plugged into the hyd port on the original transport valve.

I have used an Oliver cylinder on my 45 many times with no problem, except for being a little slow. To vent it and keep dirt from being sucked back in use a cintered muffler.

If you move to the hold position once the cylinder is extended, you won't blow the cylinder. If you leave it in the up position and the pump doesn't bypass, it can hammer till either the cylinder lets go, the pump bypasses or something else breaks. All hydraulic components are tested way beyond their advertised limits.

Northern Hydraulics (and I'm sure others) sells breathers to convert two way cylinders to one-way.
