I recently purchased a 1975 AC 200 and it has a plain alternator on im going to put one one with a tach drive on it so my hours and rpm read. What are the gears in the tach drive need to be and what is the size of the pulley on the alternator need to be to.. I'm assuming that this would affect the reads and where is a good place to get the required alternator for this tractor. Thanks

It uses a gear-driven tach drive? I thought they were all electronic by '75.

I think the pulley is supposed to be 3 inches in diameter. I saw it in a catalog a few days ago. I will check Saturday when I go to the shop.

According to all states ag parts catalog it takes a 3 inch pulley on the alternator and also a tach drive on the alternator of 12 and 45 gears ( I think thats what they all were) for correct tach speed.

Rather than putting a alternator with tach drive on it. I'd look for an electric tach, such as the VDo 333-363. You can get it on SummitRacing for 167. Forester Instruments in Mississauga also sells them if you're in Canada. I think I paid around 170 CAD for it from them. Doesn't look way to modern for that tractor. Has an hour meter as well. Allows you to put a cheaper, higher amperage alternator on, without affecting the vintage look too much.

Fred in Pa has the correct alt for sale in the classified section. The gear drive is available separately in All States Ag Parts catalog or online under gauges. $36.00 Allis part no 70246764
