Nephew said his 200 PD was acting up, started all of a sudden.
I drove it for awhile today and it is acting up. sometimes it does not want to engage in low or high, and then wait several seconds and then slams into gear then sometimes it is like does not want to disengage and have to fan the lever back and forth till it does. I am guessing theres a valve sticking in the control valve body, or theres an orific plugged or maybe a broken spring in there? Don't think the clutches them selves are causing any problems. Looked through the forum for some answers but came up short. Anyone got a clue to what or where to look? thanks, JC |

Probably the spool sticking inside the valves bore. Possibly remove the spool and polish the inside of the bore with fine emery cloth wrapped around a 1/2" diameter redi-bolt about a foot long. Clean well and reassemble.

Had one do that, broken clutch disc in the PD seems like it would slip and vibrate then I'm thinking the pieace became undone from another plate and it worked, don't slip it to long , hubs are becoming pricey

Dr. Allis had it right, stuck spool valve. Had to pry the valve out. Did not take valve off the tractor but what I did was took an old very well worn file and magnetized it. then gently went around inside of the bore 'feeling' for any roughness. pulled the file out and there was a very thin flake of shine on the file. wiped the bore out and then inserted spool. Now it moves with just a slight resistance, whole lot better than not able to move it at all and it works good now. It sounds very prehistoric for what I did but it got me moving again. Thanks, JC

Me too.
Bought an XT just prior to the seresIII on an auction back in the 70's... had two big puddles of oil under it. A couple 85cent (back then) seals in the oil cooler line fixed the leak. |
