Would a 653 be the right size to scrap out a path/road or would I need something bigger?

Thanks & God Bless

right size machine depends on the time you have to spend and the material you want to move ... You can do the job with a shovel or
I used my HD4 mainly for drainfield work and the HD5G for heavier things - though I roughed in many drives and short roads with both. Remember it is a 40 to 50 HP machine and not made for real heavy material moving in rock or extreme hard soil where a ripper is needed .
