Red Barn and Green River Knob

North side of KY80 - 2/10-mile West of the Pulaski County Line
37.129108°N  84.885581°W  Elevation 1,153'

In 2014, this barn looks new; in 2024 Satellite view and Street View, it looks sixty-years old.

From this barn to the pinnacle of Green River Knob is 2.82-miles at a heading of 53.14°.

Green River Knob, in the background, dominates everything within several counties and can be seen from almost anywhere one might be.
Cumberland Plateau
13th highest in the state.
Elev. 1,817' (some sources say 1,789')
West side of KY 837 - South of Mintonville - Barely inside the Casey County Line adjacent to Pulaski County
37.153407°N  84.844948°W

In Harlan County, Black Mountain is the highest in Kentucky at 4,139' or 4,145' depending on where you are looking.

However, although it is much higher, Black Mountain is surrounded by peaks that are almost as high as it is and therefore is not quite so visible from afar like Green River Knob is.
