Bought my HD5G in 1972 from guy about 4 miles from here - roads out here were mainly gravel at the time so I drove it home - had to cross one county road in front of house - never left a mark on asphalt . Paid $3200 for machine and same day back filled a basement and maid $100 for that work. Have rebuilt the engine once - new head - new injectors - new master clutch disc - metallic - replaced the steering clutch friction disc with metallic HD11 discs . New M42 Delco Starter - key start now - new set of tracks, new sprocket rings

hey coke , thanks for the reply! I did some trading around about 11 yrs ago and ended up with an hd 5g I used it for a lil while but the tracks were shot. I found this hd5b with good tracks but the engine was shot. I traded an wd 45 tractor for this dozer had the engine from the g rebuilt and put it in the b. in the mean time I had a bout with cancer and lost my father and grand father , so the machine fell by the way side. it now has 21 hours on the rebuilt engine. when I started feeling better I decided to tear into it and replace all of the steering components except for the hubs and throw out bearing cages which were all in good condition(I will put new seals and throwouts in it)it is torn down and most of the prep is done . I will probably start on it as soon as I can find the new seal numbers and get them ordered and in. sorry to be a Hemmingway, but thanks again for the response,truly dave meadows

seal numbers: ring and pinion side: national 415449. we doubled them up on each side just in case. final drive side: national 417316, CR 55004. we only put one in on these. I hole this helps.

Hi, just wanted to give you an update on my HD5G. Its been a workhorse champ! Not thrown a track since. Engine is purring like a kitten, but roars like a tiger under load. My cleaned injectors and repaired governor are working awesome too. This machine needs a well deserved paint job. I couldnt be more happy with it. Its working for me digging out a canal trench for my microhydro electric project. Hope all your projects work out as well as mine is now.

they really are awesome lil machines aren't they?! I run a lot of newer equip but I am most at home on something with some character to it.
