As I'm fairly new to the dozer game, ok really new to the dozer game, how much turn should I expect from just the clutch? I don't really get much when driving on level ground with no load. I get more turn when going uphill or under load. Is that normal?

sounds normal to me.  if you need to turn when not under load or turn sharp, use clutch and brake

My 7G responds that way, only issue I have is not much forgiveness when using brake to turn, is either on it or off with the power brake hydraulic application. Gotta be careful for tighter quarters and turns.

I haven't gotten game on enough to adjust the brakes application pressure since I replaced my steering hydraulics pump, I suspect someone was trying to make up for a worn unit and tightened down pretty harsh, after the trans work is done will look to that.

The previous owner of my machine had the right steering linkage tightened down so the clutch was always engage. They appear to be trying to correct a problem that the clutch was oil soaked due to a leak on the seal for the bevel gear.

I remedied all of that an put on new brake linings.. Steers nice and smooth on the right side. Left side brake linings are still to come.
