Got a question,, The 1960 D14 project I acquired has both a Allis Chalmers backhoe and a Allis Chalmers loader. The tractor was painted the Allis orange, tho faded a bit.
The backhoe and the loader are a light yellow and are original paint. In my plans, I want to re-paint everything one color after I find an engine and get tractor running again.
Does anybody have pics of one these machines that has been repainted? I'm not trying to restore to original, just want something that looks good.
I have looked on internet for the shade of yellow used on the loaders and backhoes but do not find any pics. There are several yellows used on construction equipment.
Anybody got any ideas?

AC Orange, through 1960 is Martin Senour 90T-3723, or Safety yellow, for Construction equipment.

Any D-14 Industrials that I've seen pictures of are orange. The loader and backhoe will most likely be Henry so that is where the yellow came from. Henry was later purchased by Allis-Chalmers. The yellow tractors started in 1961 and in 1964 the started making more realistic industrial tractors. The D-10 III became the I-40 and the D-15II became the I-60. There does not seem to be any 'correct' yellow since there was so many different yellows over the years
Nothing is impossible if it is properly financed

Hey Calvin and Dave, Thanks for all that info. The backhoe and loader are both Henry Mfg Co in Topeka, Ks. Backhoe is Mark IV and loader is the TS 500.
I kinda like the shade of yellow on the backhoe and loader. I looked on Tractor Supply's web site and they offer the AC orange plus several shades of yellow. My wife has a Dr. appointment in Roswell next week so that will give me an excuse to visit the Tractor Supply store. ( just love that store)

Ha, Ha, Ha, well, when you live in a big metropolis of 12,000 citizens, like I do, something like Tractor Supply ( only one year old)is a BIG thing around here. Unless you want to go hang out at wally world,,,(two years old) We're just simple folk around here.
Now, when we go visit my Granddaughter in Albuquerque,,,there are three or four Tractor Supplys up there!
Hey Steve,,, That "new Cat yellow" looks like my cup of tea. Is that your backhoe? What series AC is it? The front of the radiator shroud, cover, grill,,(?)is the way I want to do mine. I had to cut the shroud, cover, grill in two pieces to get it off, but was goin to have to do some metal work on it anyway, so no problem there. I want to re-do the whole thing and slant the top forward a little and give it a more "square-ish" look like some of the bigger construction tractors. The PO gave me two extra hoods from a ford (gasp) tractor that will be donors for my new hood arrangement.

Might help or confuse

My parts book for an AC 45 (not forty five) grader of about that era lists Allis Chalmers yellow.

The extra confuse might be that this is from an Australian assembly.

Hey,!!! You heard bout them little green men, Huh? I think, Roswell has copyrighted the flying saucer thing and it is a BIG thing up there on July 4th. Big parade and lots of things goin on for a week long celebration. I have read that the population surges to triple the number of regulars. We went one time and it was a mad house! Green people everywhere.
In all fairness, I have to say this. I really believe something crashed up there in 1947. There are several stores that have actual issues of the newspapers describing the crash, the Air Force statements, and then the denials afterwards. But, but, but, our government protected us all that day. All of the airmen that had anything to do with the retrieval of the debris, both at the site and at the base,, were transferred to other Air Force bases all over the US within a months time,,,,? No pictures were allowed of the debris, (or the little grey men) but they did publish pictures a few days later of a weather balloon claiming that was what was found,??
In the billions of other stars out there, I think a person would have to be a tad naïve to think that Earth is the ONLY star that supports life,,,,,,,,,,,

The color that best matched my HD4 where light or weather had not touched was Lorain Yellow. A perfect match. Ain't cheap though. Tracy
