My dad passed away this spring and my sister and I have gotten the family farm. He was in highway construction for over 30 years but I just don't know enough about his equipment. I want to get it ready to go to the Ritchie Auction at the end of the month. All I have is this on the grader. Allis chalmers grader Model D serial # D-5057. It is yellow. has a big grader blade that swivels and lifts each side for banking. It comes with a grader compartment for winter to protect the driver from snow. We had to put a new motor manifold and exhaust on it. We have kept it lubed over the years. The tires are in good shape. We used to plow the snow out of the lane with it after he retired until we got the bobcat and the bigger JD tractor with the big bucket. We just don't need this grader anymore.

Anyone have any idea about more information I should list with it and approximately what it will be worth. It started right up after we cleared out the gas tank and put in a new battery and changed the fluids in it. It moves good and the blade is in good shape and works good too.

Any help will be appreciated. thanks, debs

The serial number makes it a 1957 model and from your description it seems as if it has the gas engine and a cab. They were available with several options and the value can vary depending on what options it may have. These include tilting front wheels, power circle (to change the angle of the blade hydraulically), diesel engine, scarifier to name just a few. If your grader just has two hydraulic functions (one for each side of the blade) then it is the basic machine and the value could be in the $2000 range. More options could bring the value up to the $4000 range. Pictures or more details could help.

Where are you, in MD?  I'm near annapolis, and far from Gods expert, but could take a look at it, if you are close by.

Debbie, I do get up that way occasionally, mostly when there's an equipment or estate auction, nearby.  If you want to PM me with contact info, I'll save it, and try to arrange a looksee, sometime.  Thanks, Dave
