I need to know what the injector pump timing is for a 7000 344 ci motor. I know the earlier 344 Buda was 28 degrees before top dead center and then it was changed to 30 degrees on later 344s. I am using a HD 344 buda flywheel on this 7000 and I am not sure where to set it as the head is different so I can't get in with a feeler gauge to set the #1 piston and remark the fly wheel. Any suggestions?

I don't have access to a HD 11 manual that covered the full series just now, but I recall that had a section on re-marking flywheels.

So I'd suspect something the same in those for 344's that cover their full series.

I think the books stated 28 degrees for crawler tractor application of 6000 and 7000 engines, and 32 degrees when fitted to tracked loaders, wheeled loaders, and graders which were delivering a little more fuel for their higher power ratings

Some notes I took from that HD 11 manual while trying to sort out our AC 45 grader

HD 11B, 11S, 11F 9mm plunger 32 degrees

Early HD 11G 10mm, 28 degrees

Late HD 11 G 9mm, 32 degrees

And AC 45 with ADS 516  10mm, 28 degrees

Not sure if this will help with a 344 though

My 1967 printing of the Fiat-Allis 6000 & 7000 motor service manual says the same. 28 BTDC for track type tractors and motor graders and
32 BTDC for tractor loaders. It did not call for different timing on the 6000 and 7000 motors

It is raining here so I'm not under my HD6G checking the bearings.

Are you trying to find TDC to set the adjustable pointer on the flywheel? The crankshaft dampener should have two marks TDC 1 and FP1 Did you have to change the crankshaft dampener for your installation? I would like to se pictures of your project.
