I recently put some helicoils in a WF 201 block for the same reason.

I decided to go to studs instead of bolts. I didn't have any studs for a 3" head and didn't want to take the time to order some, so I took some grade 8 bolts (1/2"-13 for the WF) and cut them to length. I stuck them in the lathe and tapered the cut surface a little to get a 1/2"-20 die started.

I could have cut the threads with the lathe if I was a little more confident in my machinist ability!
