A real red neck farmer fix would be to build a battery holder mounted to side of frame rail and run new cables.

That was a great idea from A-C! If you ever serviced a 170/175 tractor you will love that design. They are on every 170/175 tractor, not as an option. There are 2 cotter pins that are usually in the end of the 2 pivot pins on that flip up shroud. They hold the shroud in place on the sides of the instrument panel. Most tractors that I've worked on have the 2 cotter pins removed to facilitate removal of the whole shroud in less than 2 seconds. Now if only the same engineer would have designed the hood!
