Often I do miss my old 7G. Do not miss having to work on as much as work with but miss the project I pieced back together.
Too old to repeat. Gonna make It a point to go visit Mel Edited by DMiller - 03 Jan 2024 at 6:29am |

DMiller: We wish you still had that old 7G ! - I can say that I personally learned volumes about the trials and tribulations that you went through especially the pump work that you did inside the transmission. Shame that the industry hasn't seen fit to produce a plug and play clutch pressure pump at a reasonable cost.
My guess is there are still probably a bunch of old 7G's and 7 GB in this country that have great bottoms but are down due to the transmission clutch pressure pumps. Same goes for some of the old parts that would be needed for the old HD6's 344 buda engines. Parts are thin which tends to obsolete the machine when it can't be repaired. As I write this - am wondering if a group of us with investment capital and design talents could reproduce parts for these old AC's. I see that being done with some of the John Deere Equipment where the trademark and copyrights would not be infringed by reproduction due to the fact that these units exceed 50 years old. Not all of us are contractors that need a $50K + machine to work on their estates or small acreage country properties. If only... Respectfully ~ Orangeman

Dave....Come on out here!.....We'll put in the drivers seat of one of these 7GBs...the one on the left was able to move under it's own power when we brought it in. All of the linkages are rusty and stuck. We're pretty sure it will come back to life pretty fast if we get everything loosened up and get it serviced. Really looking forward to running it...our only experience was running the original 7G like yours that I put the decelerator pedal on...we put in service before the 2017 wildfire...which it survived...but haven't done any thing with it since. Was not sure I would be a proponent of the B series loaders with the modulating pedal and foot steering. It did take us 50 yr.s to get our hands on some. I'm here to report that we love them!! The 12GB in those videos is almost flawless....it' a kick in the ass to run....so I'm assuming the 7GB will be as responsive. |

Seems the track for the HD5 and HD6 machines is another area where the supply is dried up of finding anything , but market is not large enough for anyone to tool up to supply the need .
Unsure if anyone else is supplying parts as the pitch on some IH machines was real close to what AC used . |

Even track and undercarriage parts for my FD5 machine were hard to find , Thill Tractor in Eau Clare WI had a set of tracks they had sold to a outfit an Canada who then decided they were not what they wanted - I bought them but had to pay shipping from Canada , took a couple months to get the deal done .
