I am thinking of doing the breaks on the WD45 in the next week or so. But I have read that having Rick Corder do the relining is the best option. Does anyone know if Rick is still doing this? If so, does anyone have contact info for him.

Second, I am looking at the Large Brake Riveting Tool from DJS/Steiner Tractors, but some reviews say the tool is not deep enough for the WD45. Does anyone know if this is true? If so, could I just grind out the tool to make it deeper?

Thanks!

I bought the tool from Steiner a few years back.  Yes it was not big enough.  But I did use the punch part of it so it was helpful. My memory is getting so bad. I think I clamped a punch in the vice and then used their punch to peen it properly.  Bought the friction material from Agco but they got from A&I.  Nice job so don’t be scared of it. Or get Rick to do it if you are not very well tooled up!

Phone Steiner and tell them what you are doing. I phoned them when I got into this years ago and explained the problem. Salesman inferred I didn’t know what I was doing. Lol. I said let me talk to your tech guy or engineer.  He did hook me up with someone that seemed to be knowledgeable. He apologized and said yes that does not work on WD45 brake linings.  He was aware.  Maybe they have different tool now. Phone and ask! They were very cooperative. Even said they would give me full refund. I said no I have used part of it and am happy.  😀😀

Another vote for Rick. The last one I did the brakes on, the pins wouldn't come out. Big surprise! So, I drilled and tapped them, 1/2-20 I think. A short piece of pipe makes a good puller. Cut a set out with a torch once, I'll never do that again. That was a miserable job.

Rick is the ONLY way to go for brake shoes! The material he uses is the best you can get.
