The sales lit shows 2 different sizes depending on your rear size. 18.4-38 had 13.6-28s, and 20.8-38s or 18.4-42s had 14.9-28s.

Bought mine with 18.4x38 on the back and 14.9x28 on the front so it sits "uphill" and dosen't have much clearance for the loader know I have seen some with what looked like a 18.4x24? wondered if anybody had one?

Im just going by what it said in the brochure. If you could find rims you might get by with 16.9 or 18.4-26s??? I know you cant change the ratio much at all. |

The lit I have doesnt even list the option of fwa for the 8070. It must be an early one theres no date on it. I have seen an 8070 with the 18.4-26s. Im not sure if the gearing in the front end would have been changed for that model.

I've got 16.9 x 26 on an 1984 model 8050. It seems that the later models had wider tires on front.

Service school made it clear that the front and rear tires had to be certain sizes otherwise you'd prematurely wear out not only your tires but also the driveline. I'd check with the dealer as to correct sizes.

The FWA option for the 8070 was a slightly later release than the other 8000's.
What we found during testing was that a front tire size that gave a slight over-speed of around 1.5-3.0% (if my memory is correct) gave the best results in the field. Less gave issues turning and more could lead to hopping in higher but normal slippage conditions. Try and stay close to the factory sizes. |

The 8000's always look like they are driving up hill. If you put a small enough tire on to "level" it, the tire will be too small and cause gear lash problems. The 18.4x26 was a later option to go with 20.8x38 or 18.4x42 tires. There was also a 13.6x24 option to go with 18.4x34 tires, but I have never seen an 8000 with 34" rears.
