    Posted: 11 Dec 2010 at 1:09pm
I just came across a posting from Machinery Pete on Agriculture.com about a farm sale near Rushville, IL.  There was an AC 4W-305 that sold for $34,000 which is considered to be a record price for that tractor model according to Machinery Pete.

Did anyone on here get that tractor?

had a chance to buy one about a year ago for 15k, was just short $14,999! Sounds now, like that would have been a very good buy. Darrel

I was at that sale. One of the three heirs ( I think there were three boys ) was the buyer. The tractor had eight (8) brand NEW radial tires , all new injectors and two new turbos. We know those items are not cheap. And I think the story was that their father bought it new or close to new. The way I figure it the tractor cost him 2/3's of the bid price. And it was a good looking tractor. I almost bought one about 15 years ago for $15,000 but was talked out of it because about everyone around here thought and still think the engine was no good and they required a lot of money to keep them running.
