I have posted a WD45 engine for sale on here recently - its still for sale @ $600.  Here are the new findings.  It is a replacement engine since it has no serial number on the block.  It also has yellow primer, which I was thinking they started on the D series.  What are the chances of this being an early D17 replacment block?  It looks like the 45 block with the early style oiling system, but it does not have the reinforcement rib of the D17's.
The engine is not locked up, it rolls over fine and doesn't appear to have any cracks in the block.  It doesn't have an intake manifold on it.  I do have a carb for it, but it will need to be rebuilt.  Also have a spare head that goes with it too.
Thanks
Adam

It's not a D17 block at all, because it doesn't have the threaded holes on the right side of the block where the coil mount bracket bolts up. AM 3853 is definitely the casting number for the WD45 engine block.  Rick
