I need to replace a couple of the manifold studs on my WD45 - two of them are eroded away to about 1/3 original diameter about an inch back from the outer end. These guys look to be 4.25" long - is that something my local car parts shop will carry? Longest I saw in their online catalog is 3.5". Thanks!

Give Tony a call about them, You might go ahead and get all of the studs and the brass nuts to. Don
3 WD45's with power steering,G,D15 fork lift,D19, W-Speed Patrol, "A" Gleaner with a 330 corn head,"66" combine,roto-baler, and lots of Snap Coupler implements to make them work for their keep.

Don - checked Tony's online catalog - that would certainly work. I am hopeful that I can find a local source so I can get the manifold back on and move on to other repairs.
 
BTW, have any of you used a stud extractor? A friend stopped by while I was contemplating methods to remove the broken studs and offered me the use of a Craftsman (?) tool that slides over the stud and uses a 1/2" drive to force a ribbed wheel inside the tool against the stud. I worked great - I had both studs out in a few minutes.

Yes Dave I have a Craftsman just like you are describing, It will do a good job on a stud that is 1 1/2" or so long, But not the dreaded stud that is broke off flush with the head. lol

I was lucky - both broke off leaving 3" of stud to grab onto! I think the one he loaned me would work down to about 3/4" of stud.......but I have no interest in testing that idea!
