I recently bought a series 3 XT diesel that had been setting for a long time. I have no idea about what the previous owner had been doing with it, or any other history. The pump looks new and shiny, but the right deck panel is missing (valve and filter access), and the panel to access the hydraulic levers was off. I have power steering, and the tractor drives fine, but there isnt any response when I hit the remotes, and the 3 point doesnt raise. When I move the position control up all the way, the 3 point comes up some, but it still doesnt respond to the main control lever. I have NOT changed fluids yet. I didnt want to waste new fluid if I needed to tear something down and rebuild it.
Thanks for the help.

Our 200 had some hyd problems the 3pt wouldnt lower and you could always hear the pump running. The first thing i would check is the linkage on the traction booster lever. Ours kept moving with out the lever moving. Have a buddy (or you) watch which linkage is moving when the lever moves when the lever is all the way down or up move the linkage (under the cab or platform) in the same way it was moving when the lever was moving all the way. This has fixed ours and a few buddys tractors that had the same problem. Might be something totally different but this is a cheap fix. BTW ours drove and steered fine when this happens.
