I have an Allis B and want to get a good Bush Hog for it. I am not sure what I should be looking for, as far as how it will connect to the tractor. Is there a conversion kit that I will need to buy? Or can I get a specific brand/model that will fit as it? It would be nice to find one that did not need modified.... anyone have any suggestions/ experience? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! With a B, you're going pull type. It should be able to run a 5'. You need an overrunning clutch adapter. The overrunning adapter makes it so you can step on the clutch and stop the tractor without the mower trying to drive the tractor through the PTO.

Listen closely to what is said by Brian. It is correct. The B is not the tractor to be lifting a rotary mower - little too light on the front. Also, the overruning clutch is a must or the mower will "drive" the tractor. I've seen a B pushed through a fence by a rotary without an overruning clutch. Take good care of my favorate. Good Luck! I have a snap coupler 160 mower. I have used it on my CA and it gets very light on the ft wheels raised. 2 rows of corn stalks really work it hard in 3rd. Mowing weeds and tall grass you just have to go a little slower.

If you are intending to do real "bushhogging", I think you'd be better off with a 4 footer.
The little B is a wonderful tractor but it will be hard pressed to run a 5' bushhog in tall heavy grass or small brush. I have a 5 foot trailer type and it will make my WD "talk" in the real heavy stuff.
I intend to convert mine to a 3 point or snap coupler as the trailer type is
a PIA in close quarters where you have to make sharp turns and back up a lot.
In MY Opinion, I think the B can handle a 4' 3 point hitch hog if you weight the front up some and keep it off the steep hills.
These are my opinions; the opinions of those with first hand experience with a B and a bushhog would probably be far more valuable.

I have for sale, a continental Belton 5' underbelly mower, that is very heavy duty with swinging blades. Right now it is on my CA.

i have a 72 inch Contiental Belton mower under my B. Duey is right, they are heavy and will cut about anything.. A 60 inch deck would make mowing a little easier in the DEEP stuff.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

I have a B and use a Woods RM59 rear mount mower. It is 5 ft and will not do a mans job of mowing, but does fine for intermediate jobs and down to within 2 inch cut. It is not to heave, but another 50 pounds would cause front end to float. I have no front weights. I like the center PTO drive for it. I have used it for 30 years. I notice most replies on this forum use belly mounts however. Just my thoughts.

We installed one of our 3 point conversions on a B and then put the 5' brush hog on it. It would lift, run, and cut. As long as you weren't moving. Forward motion translated into vertical nose motion.
A 4 foot would have worked far better. 20% less cut should be quite a bit less weight.
We use a 3 point 48" Finish mower behind our 38 B to mow about 4 acreas and my son loves the job.
