 Topic: wd radiator question

i just replaced the hoses on my wd cus i thought they were leaking. filled it up with fluid started it up it dripped a little but when it started to get up to temp it started dripping alot . it looks like it is leaking out of the overflow tube. beginng to think it might be the cap is bad anythoughts?

Coolant from overflow tube can be a bad cap. You can put it on a tester or just swap it out.
You may let it cool off and try again with the level a little to the low side to make sure it did not just trap some air and burp or just was overfilled.

I'm with Rick on running the level down a little bit say about 1/2" down from the top.
When I change the hoses out I remove the hood and the two lower two 1/2" radiator mounting bolts and the back lower two 3/8" shell cover bolts, That will let the radiator move forward a little and the lower hose will go right on to the pump.

You need to leave room in radiator for expansion of the fluid as it heats up, if you don't leave enough room it goes out the over flow tube.

i have a repair manual that says it takes 3.5 gallons but only got 3 in. how much does it take?

Mrkurt. Put a catch can on for the overflow fluid, I wired one on by the dist. and run a overful hose into it, you will find that after you run your tractor for awhile the overful can will stay at the same level, once there then you have the right amount of fluid in your rad. John
