I have 2 b's . My running b has one rear rim that is orange and one silver.
Which color is right? The parts b has one original rim and one with a 6 bolt pattern. Only two holes line with the wheel. Any idea what this rim fits? |

Right? By right do you mean original? The original rims were galvanized, but since thats not cheep when you restore a tractor, most guys paint the rear rims silver. The front ones were orange.

Thanks Morton. The part tractor has one rear rim with 6 loops to bolt to wheel. The wheel has only 4 holes. So only two holes line up at the time. It is a silver rim. Did AC make a tractor with a 6 hole 24 inch rear rim ?

some guys believe the very early B, maybe 1939-40 came with painted orange rear rims. Shortly after that all the rims wer galvanized as Morton said. The standard B-C rim has 4 bumps and 4 attachment cam- bolts. The loops is an International or other design. Some have used 4 loop international rims on the B. I dont remember a tractor with 24 inch rims that had 6 loops. Probably not an Allis unless it was built in the 70s.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

I believe a picture is worth a thousand words. The B&W photos of the "New" 39B we had on the Aggen Farm shows our B in 39 came new with Galvanized Rear Rims. These rims were not the standard 4 bump which became standard sometime in 1940.
37 and early 38B rims were split rims with special wheel clamps designed to work with these early rims. In 38 and 39 another, one piece rim, was used with special footed clamps that fit behind and over 4 small angle irons rivited in the tire bead flange. The two early B wheel clamp styles used 3/4 excentric and standard bolts and the rear wheel hubs had 3/4 bolt holes. In early 1940 the concave base clamps that fit the new now standard 4 bump rim used 5/8 excentrics and bolts and all wheels cast after had 5/8 bolt holes.
Kubota 4WD 24" front rims have 6 loops. D10 Allis with stamped steel Farmall look alike rear wheels used the Farmall standard 24" 4 loop rear rims.

Actually regalvanizing is not very expensive if you take in a number of rims at a time. About ten years ago a firm in Rockford Illinois was charging $150 for the first 600#, and the price went down from there. I don't think the WD45 12" power adjust rims weigh 100#, so you are looking at less than $25 a rim if you take the full 600# plus..
One note, if the rims have been previously painted, they will not touch them until ALL paint has been removed. Rust is OK, but NO paint.
