sounds like a great deal UNTIL you read the installation needs.... THREE 40amp, 240 volt feeds to it !!! If I turned it on the rest of my entire house would go dark !!!

That and DO NOT be standing In the water Stream of a Shower until it has Stabilized!! Buddy of mine installed one, Almost scalded himself to needing med help. Still has it but has to turn on water and allow to get stable where runs three to four Minutes Scald and cold then back and forth.

Are they manufacturing nat gas/lp versions? One of the complaints of the early models of the gas fired, was the noise.

My Daughter and Son-in-law have a tankless LPG 'instant' hot water heater. They are off grid so it is their best option, it works well for them. It does make noise, but not unbearable.

I looked into switching to a tankless electric water heater but my 200 Amp service is not even close to adequate.

Something else to consider-many have a recommended annual service which can be a DIY project for those who can. Otherwise, it's a service call for more $.

Yes. I recently had to replace my water heater. Asked about going tankless either a NG or electric. My plumbing/heating people flat said NO to either. When asking why they said that my old breaker panel and entrance couldn't handle an electric model and they said hadn't had good extended results with NG or LPG models. I've got a new 30 gal NG energy efficient model, more expensive than a conventional NG but cost of operation and rebate from gas supplier will make it cheaper over a few years.

the BIG issue with tankless is that YOU have to CLEAN them, often depending on your water quality and most( all) installs to NOT have the bypass plumbing to do it.

I paid my plumber $5600 to bring and install the Navien on demand I wrote about in a recent post. A quick search says I could have ordered the heater "buy it now" for $2400. In addition to that the heater required electric and propane. By getting a separate LP tank we can monitor exact usage and write off the propane to heat a farm shop. A simple line from the house would not qualify because you could not distinguish between the house and shop usage. I've got 4 to 5 times the price of the heater into getting it going. My wife does telephone sales and marketing. A few years ago she had a coworker miss a bunch of time because they lost power and now/then she wanted a Generac. That represented a huge moment of opportunity, I got a LP tank and had them run a capped off line to the shop for future use while they were running the line to the Generac. The electrician ran the wire and put a breaker box in the new(er) shop while they were there. YES, I 'charged' the wife for all of my add-ons. The new breaker box and capped off LP line sat unused for 3 years. The tubes in the radiant floor waited 11 years to get hooked up to a water heater. The insurance man did the wood stove in by mandate after Mother Nature ruined all the Ash. It was time.
