Am working on final details to return a 715 backhoe to her former glory.  

Based on discussion with Sandy Lake Implement there was a revision to the Thermostat the involved two plates and two addition gaskets along with a revision to the actual thermostat itself.   

The 715 Backhoe I am working on has the Perkins 4.236 engine in it so it has the same engine as the 715 and 715B machines.  

SLI and I discussed that AC Industrial may have issued a Service Bulletin for this revision.  

Question is does anyone have a 715 Thermostat Revision Service Bulletin that they can share or copy?   I would be glad to reimburse expenses for a copy. 

At this point maybe a picture of the Thermostat Housing would be helpful as a running change during production may have resulted in some of the 715 and 715B machines being equipped with the revision.

Just out of curiosity I sent an email to Perkins and have yet to here back.  Am looking for the spec. build sheet for the engine, as am thinking Perkins supplied the entire long block so their should be a parts reference there.  

Neither the 715 or 816 backhoe mentions any plates or running changes for the thermostat assembly.   Nor do the manuals illustrate the cast elbow for the exhaust manifold.    Have often thought that AC could have done a better job with their illustrations.   For example - there are a number of reference stating "Part Not Illustrated" or refer to; " Machinery List" - what the heck is that supposed to mean?  

With the Engineering talent AC had on staff their QA/QC on parts manuals could have been improved  before their release to the dealership or the public.

Might be they were waiting for mass sales of the units , but low numbers overall made never came . 
  When I bought the 715B , a friend was all Ford on his hoe's with 555 machines .
I had a HD4 with detachable hoe and the 715 replaced that .
 So on a jobsite he asked me to clean up some footing trenches with the extend-hoe , then he ran the 715 and commented the hydraulics were smoother and quicker than his Ford .

I'm not home for two weeks but I have all the service books and service bulletins from our local A-C industrial dealer. A-C used Perkins Industrial engines and MF used the Ag version of the same engine. I'm told not many common parts. Coke, I'm sure you know that the AC 715's used a Ford rear end.

Coke and Calvin: Thanks for your insights.  Yes TBran in a separate post mentioned that the Perkins Ag 4.236 had some design differences than the AC Industrial 4. 236 engine. 

My main concern is to provide maintenance on the all the systems to set up a baseline and then inspections and service on a quarterly basis.  The cast elbow for the exhaust is not too much of a problem if it is NLA as it is a simple 90 degree elbow with a triangle flange top and bottom.  The flange triangle stock is readily available, so if we need to machine something here we can to that.

The T-stat matter is slightly more of a concern as it appears that last mechanic that service it used silicone between the water outlet connection to the water outlet body.  I would like to maintain this unit as close to OEM as possible, thus the call to SLI and the sharing of information at that point.   

I did check my AC Industrial Service Bulletins and  there are maybe  six or so listing for the 715 LBH.  That said, am wondering if due to fact that Fiat had entered the picture and that AC has suffered economic losses that some of the specific details that would have flowed from the field to engineering to continue with Service Bulletins were let go in light of the need for saving time and capital expenses.  

If memory serves the rear axle and differential assembly is a Ford 6000 rear end.   A confirmation of that would be nice.

Yes on that rear - and the idea AC used a open drive with driveshaft and Ford used a casting as part of frame .
 Son just rebuilt the Fwd/Rev box and replaced the torque converter in mine - the Box parts came from a Marine supplier as the unit was used in many boats and launches .
