I've got a 125 out of a CA I'm working on. Would like to bump the compression a bit. how much can you safely mill off the head? This isn't going to be an all out puller, just want it to be a bit stronger.

Dick L had a post a few years ago where he took off about .100 inch ... maybe he will see this post and fill in some info.

A post on yesterdays tractors, Dick mentioned milling one down .200 , but that left the water jacket a little close.

Years ago, I sawed one up to find out the answer to that question. You can take as much as you want until the spark plug holes get weak. Instead of milling the head, I now add a dome to the piston. I make and install these myself.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll talk to the machinist as well, looks like an eighth of an inch should be doable and would bump the compression a fair bit.
