Corn planter parts

   Hi all.  I have a 2 row Allis planter.  It came with an abundance of plates, good hoppers, and most of the sprockets, but is missing the fertilizer feed plates and has no row markers. 

 Does anyone know where I could find parts?  Or am I better off buying another for parts?

	Well, you're a long ways from Hutch but there will likely be parts like that there. I'm not sure where to look in your part of the world.

	I'm in southwest Ohio and in a similar situation. I bought a 2 row mounted A/C planter with LOTS of plates because the sons were cleaning out the last of dads projects. Dad had bought 6 row mounted planters and cut down the tool bars to make 2 row mounted planters. I've stayed with the planter plates the son recommended for sweet corn, but I'm getting too high of a population for ideal ear size. I think I've been looking at the wrong thing to fix that, I was looking at the plates. I think I should have been looking for a different sprocket. Does that sound right? Also, is there supposed to be a brush of some kind inside the seed box to sweep the last of the seed into the plate?

	Generally plates are for the size and shape of the seed. It is the combination of drive and driven sprockets connected by a chain that determines the rate at which seed is placed. I know it gets said time and time again on this site, but its true. The first thing you should purchase after buying a new piece of equipment is the owners manual. If you can't find it through this website, i guarantee you will find it on ebay
