A friend of mine has his 7020 Allis for sale it has a cab and the 301 intercooled turbo motor.   Could this be a good puller and how light can you make a 7000 serries Allis?

I'm by far not a expert but I'd guess 7030 or 7040 within the 426 would be a better choice.

Afraid not, the 301 is good in the 5500-7500 class, itd be hard to get that one that light, it would be ok in a farm stock class say at 5-7 mph range, you would have to turn the fuel screw tho! A 7000 is alot lighter from the start and better matched for the 301 in pulling

The engine would be fine if use in the correct driveline.  7010, 20, 30, 40, 45, 50, 60 and 7080 style drivelines are heavy and if were to be used for pulling, will only be competative with the 426 engine.

Doug is right. If you are going to use the 301 engine and want to be competative, the best place for it is in a class that weighs less than 7500 lbs. Anything heavier than that and you run the potential risk of pulling against a 466 C.I. green or red engine.

AC models 180, 185, 190, 200, or model 7000 (not to be confused with the 7000 series)would be the lighter driveline(s) if you want to use the 301 engine.
