After 23 years of ownership we just noticed our CA serial number doesn’t match what is in Norm’s book. It is factory stamped. Plus it’s a 6 digit code instead of the 5 digit code in the book. Our father purchased it from the original owner whom purchased the tractor new at our local dealer. CE 174699 PA
Any ideas?

I believe what you found is the engine serial number. The tractor serial number should be stamped into the top of the transmission case on the left hand side (when sitting on the seat) beside the shift pattern.

yes... the "CE" is a designation for the 125 CID 4 cylinder motor..

Tractor number should be a "CA"
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

This is one of those feel stupid moments. So used to looking at the bell housing and yes there it is back at the transmission beside the shift pattern. Thanks guys, I will go crawl in a hole now lol.
