I recently purchased a AC either d14 or d15 industrial with back hoe, can’t find serial number to verify but it does have the early 149 cubic engine. My problem is when I bought it and was shown the function of the backhoe I thought the guy moved a lever on the loader side to engage the backhoe but can’t figure it out. The guy I bought it since moved so no contact. Any help appreciated.

It probably uses a DIVERTER valve to transfer hydraulics from loader to backhoe function . It's a common item on many older machines to split the hydraulic pump flow to attachments - My HD4 used that so loader bucket had to be placed onto solid ground , then switch to hoe operation . Kind of a job to do more than one function with one end of machine

by chance would you know what that valve would look like? There is a t valve back by the backhoe, next time home I will give that a try.

Probably yes , 3 ports on the valve power in , loader supply , backhoe supply .
The loader and the backhoe may each have their own relief valve also On my detachable hoe I also had a separate hose that connected to crawler and backhoe as a return line - you may mot have that if hoe is mounted to tractor . |

IIRR, diverter blocks use BIG hoses. So follow the big hoses to the diverter...
