Picked up an allis Chalmers model 17 loader recently. Guy I bought it from says it was on a wd. I was under the assumption that the model 17 only fit the D17???

If it has the WD mounts it will fit. My WD45 had one on it when I bought it. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong!

A Model 17 loader mounts to the rear axle L & R housings with special brackets that attach to the axle housing bolts. A Model 9 for a WD usually clamped to the L & R side frames. Like Rusty said, if it has the D-17 rear brackets, it may work. Gary |

Thanks for the replies everyone. Anyone have a model 17 on a Wd or Wd45 that could shoot a few pics of how it's mounted? This loader is missing the rear mounts so ill probably have to fabricate them.
Thanks! Ben |

If you sign up with 'Grandpastractors.com' there is a great link to all the early Allis Loaders Allis Parts Catalog No. D47 Farm Loaders May 1965 D-17 rear brackets on page 78 Gary http://grandpastractor.com/kunena/allis-chalmers-tractors.html .................................................................... http://grandpastractor.com/kunena/allis-chalmers-equipment/685-allis-chalmers-farm-loaders-may-1965.html Edited by Gary - 27 Nov 2017 at 2:52pm |

I had a #17 on my '45 for a while. All the mounting holes for the loader bracket did not match up with existing holes on the '45 frame. The axle mounting worked ok. Note, the '17 is high pressure low volume, so if you put it on a '17 IV it will not lift more than about 1,000# - voice of experience. But, still works for most stuff and I do like it on my '17 IV.

I'm guessing you just drilled your own mounting holes? Also, is the rear mount the same for the Wd45 and the D17? I couldn't find any different mounts in the parts book in the link at grandpa's tractors, but thought I'd ask. Thanks! Ben |

Baverwolf As I mentioned above: "A Model 9 for a WD usually clamped to the L & R side frames" If you look in the index at the front, the Model 9 loader ( which is for WD and WD-45) is on page 65. The rear of the loader frame clamps to the tractor 'side frame' with 4 'J bolts, each side, as shown in the picture. Gary |
