I ran across this manual on Ebay a couple weeks ago. Never seen a dual subsoiler. Charlie Widlund was here and said he had not seen one either. Charlie has forgot more about AC than I know so I immediately upped my max bid and bought the manual. Took a couple days to build the model. Looks like the real one uses the standard SC tool bar with two shanks added. Here's a picture of my modell
Anyone here own one of these?? the manual has a mailing label to Battle Creek, IA. ![]() |

YIKES.. It'll take me that long to even TRY to think just HOW do you do it ???!!!! I can't work on real ones and here you go make itty, bitty ones !! So I have to ask... do you ever 'turn wrenches' on the 'full scale' versions ? |

I think I have one of those manuals around here somewhere, I thought it was pretty cool too. i can tell you this, If you put that thing in the ground, you're going to want more than a D-17 to pull it!!!

If you look in Norm's AC history book, I believe you will see a picture of a three shanker.

Thanks for the comments guys!! It will be interesting if we have someone post who actually has a two shank unit..
Jay, I haven't turned wrenches since I left IA in 2009. If you look at the top photo on my website I did a ground up restoration of all but the WC and the 616 garden tractor. Including the IB that Charlie Widlund now owns. It was fun, but building the smaller ones is more fun. Armand

Mike, let me know what you are wanting. I know a couple guys who do custom work.
One guy specializes in loaders, another in blades, etc. Several guys who build tractors. Mainly tires and detail work. But as you know, I only build for my own collection.

That looks awesome! I had no idea that Allis made a two shank sub soiler. I am trying to figure out what model tractor it is hanging on, but whatever tractor it is, I am sure that the real version of it would give the tractor a work out. Darrel

Totally Cool. The picture on the book looks like dads early D17. I do not remember his D19 very well, I was in the army where he got that and was not around it that much. I don't think it looked like that.

Charlie and I decided the picture on the cover of the manual was a D17 so I put it on a precision model I had just bought to build a picker on. Easy mod on the tractor as only two really small rivets hold the hitch into the bell.
Wayne, visitors are always welcome and I have several during the winter.

So, what am I missing here. Have never seen a Coulter on a subsoiler. There aren't any on the picture on the cover, but the #4 has one?
Guess I should try and be more "subsoiler observant". Have no real use for one, but still want one for the collection..... |

Marv, the parts list showed the coulters so I added them. Never seen a coulter on a real subsoiler either!!!
