Do you mean the sticker of the diagram that goes on the tractor or a printable diagram?

A printable one.  My alt. died and got a new one, there's a plug that comes off of it, and the battery and ground terminal.  The person before me used the plug, and it looked like they grounded out the bat. terminal.  Seems like a weird approach so I wanted to see what a diagram would recommend...

If yours has been switched to an alternator from a generator the factory diagram might not help. I scanned the diagram but I can't find it in the computer so I'm not much help.

Thanks I found that diagram with an internal regulator, I have an external regulator.   Where I am stuck has to do with the alt. and the amp meter (mine is disconnected).

I have a plug the plugs in back of the Alt. and a wire that seems to run from the Bat. post to a ground (next to the regulator) and nothing on the ground post.  So I'm unsure if the wire that appears to be a ground...be connected to the ground post and the bat. post on the alt. be left blank (because the plug takes care of it), or should I run a wire from the "bat." post on the alt. to somewhere, Plug the plug in, and run a ground wire from the ground post to a ground.

MOST alternators are 12 volt, negative ground... you need to know before you wire it up.
