New to the forum, and my first tractor and diesel engine... I just purchased a home with close to 3 acres but, most of it is thick scrub oak so I decided to get a used tractor to clear some of the land. I ran across a pretty good deal on an AC 715D, at least that's what the seller tells me it is. I'm not 100% sure of that now that I've had it a few weeks. I also purchased a service manual for $50 which isn't much help honestly so far.... tractor got stuck on the delivery truck so already replaced the starter due to it being drenched in diesel fuel and oil and wasn't salvageable at least by me... It has a terrible fuel leak coming from several places it looks like.
Question 1. Is there a way to tell which model of 715 I have and engine? It's been repainted by someone that didn't care what got painted so there is yellow paint covering everything that is visible except the seat.
2. Next issue to tackle is, when the tractor is cold it will only move in reverse, it takes about 10mins to warm up enough to move in any gear forward. What little information I've found I understand it could be as simple as low on transmission fluid, is this correct? The next issue is where all the fluids are contained and where to add new fluids to since the service manual has nothing in it pertaining to simple maintenance. I don't want to put the wrong fluids in the wrong place.

Thank you for any and all help with this....

Has a Perkins 4 cylinder engine -  4-236 which is about 70 HP -later machines used a cummins but were not as good a machine as the perkins equipped units.
If you look at plate on loader frame should have all the numbers which than can be used to find year and other info . Mine is a 715B-D with a 14' ft digmore extend a hoe which will dig to 18' ft
fuel leaks can be a problem and can create starting problems - get them fixed .
oil low will cause problems with fwd, rev clutch pack which is ahead of the 4 speed transmission .
starter problems - seems they happen - nose cone breaking for some reason -
overall a good machine .
somewhere on here I have a picture of bracket needed to support hyd pump as without the kit or your own brace - the front timing cover will crack from pump load - I used a steel drawbar from trailer hitch - bolted to engine bell housing and clamped onto hyd pump.
Overall the machines are undervalued for as tough as they are and will perform as well or better than the Ford 555 TLB or Case 580 , which they are in same class .
torque converter and fwd rev box use ATF .
the service manual should have all the info in it on tractor - operators manual might not.

715 and 715B have the 236 Perkins engine. 715C has the A-C 200 cu.in. with a turbo.
My understanding that the 715D is powered  Cummins  It will likely be a CDS not an A-C.
CDS purchased the A-C industrial line. I've had a 715 and 715B for 40 years and have never had a wrench on the power train. Good machines.  Trans problems are likely low fluid.
Nothing is impossible if it is properly financed
