I will be staying home. Sounds like there will be enough idiots on site without me adding to the crowd.

We have a convention here this weekend.
Well less than Half the normal amount are booked for this due to the eclipse. We scheduled this a year ago and had no idea how big a deal this would be. |

When the eclipse happened in Southern Illinois in 2017 traffic was a bit busy. I've lived on my road my whole life, minus 5 years after I moved out and bought a house in town, and I have never seen traffic like that out our way.
I live about 15 miles from Carbondale where this eclipse crossed path with the one from 2017 and alot of people are all about standing in the same place to watch two eclipses. |

Here are talking of Secondary highways around Fredericktown to the Bootheel being impassable in places, hotels are full up all around Cap Girardeau even as inclement weather forecast. Some that usually provide rooms at $85-$150/night are now well over $600 IF can locate one.
Interstate 55 is predicted to be a royal mess as is I-57 in IL in southern end of state. Wife and I will be leaving EARLY to head to my brother's in Jackson MO, he just remarried and has been in this house less than 3 years, time for a visit anyway.

Texas DPS has published a list of counties where all ‘permitted loads’ are suspended for the day.
Wifey and I are probably going head over to Lampasses for the day, and check out all the craziness. Don’t really care about the eclipse itself, as it’s not the first one, won’t be the last. Just want to view humankind being a couple bubbles off level. Edited by Lars(wi) - 03 Apr 2024 at 9:41pm |

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

I think they should reschedule the eclipse for Sunday instead. ;-)

Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest.

Received a notice from one of our vendors today warning about potential disruptions due to the eclipse next week. Never thought of this being an issue, but different areas are planning for HUGE numbers of people converging into those areas to see it.
We hope this message finds you well. We are writing to
inform you of a potential disruption that may affect the timely delivery of
your packages to our labs early next week. As you may be aware, there is a
solar eclipse scheduled for Monday, 08 April 2024, and while this celestial
event promises awe-inspiring views, it also poses logistical challenges as XXXXXX is in the path of totality. We have been advised by local and state
authorities to expect widespread road closures and general difficulty with travel
in our local area on Monday due to the extremely high influx of visitors hoping
to see the event. If you
anticipate having samples sent to us, please plan to have them delivered by
Friday, 05 April, or we ask that you please hold and ship on Tuesday, 09 April,
to ensure your samples are not delayed in transit and arrive intact. |
