I need an exhaust manifold for a gas D17 series III.  There is a large piece broken off where the muffler attaches.  Or could I weld on a piece of the proper size black or cast pipe to fix mine?

Neighbors cracked in same area , He said he was ordering a new one but if I could weld it up until that came , So I welded it with Allstate #8 cast rod. Asked him a year later if he had got new manifold , said no reason to his worked fine with weld repair .

I was going to buy one for my D17 series 4 as the top part was cracked off right where yours was.  I got a threaded pipe fitting and cut to size.   As I tried to weld it, the cast was falling apart as I tried to weld as it was really worn and pitted.  I ended up brazing it all together and it is holding together sofar.  I figured it will work long enough to get all the other things fixed and then as more money comes around, I will buy a new one when I need to.
