Anyone see this one yet or know who owns it, its pretty pricy for a 7040 but extremely sharp looking. I would post the link but don't know how from a smart phone.

Is it correct for a '77 to have the maroon belly?

Must be a hand crank, I don't see any batteries. Yes, 77 was the last year for the maroon belly.

All 1977 were maroon belly including my late 1977 7060 that even had the change over black belly dash.

That is probably the finest looking 7040 that a person would ever find, but it is a bit pricy. Could get that much into it if everything has been gone through. If I was paying that much for it, though, I'd like to see the correct color of white (should be more of a creme color, I think) used on it. However, when they look that nice, a person shouldn't pick em apart. Darrel

I too wonder where are the batteries and that longer fuel tank on the right is like none I remember. It is cleaner than mine that we use to move bales with in the winter and I am envious for that.

I was wondering about the shade of white when I started painting my 7000. Some of the brochures I looked at looked like this one, others seemed to have a bit of the cream in them. I went with cream, either one looks nice, IMO.

Yeah, it looks like they used new white like the black bellies and 8000's used. All maroon bellies used cream as the color for the wheels.

The batteries are where they are supposed to be, they have a cover over them. I have seen a few that folks have done that way. They look nice.

Hey guys it is very easy to spend alot of money to restore tractors when you start talking high quality paint. Also we all know parts are not cheap too. It also looks like a new cab kit too.

True, but we also know you'll NEVER get out of them what you put into them. In this case it looks like he want to get paid decent $$$ for his labor too. |

Wish I could have my 7060 painted that nice. On the other hand no way would I give that for a 7000 series when you could buy a nice 8030 thru 8070 for that kind of money. That said, if you were a collector you couldn't buy one and make it that nice any cheaper.

I agree the price is too high if you were going to take it home and put it to work. What i am saying is that is a beautiful tractor and it is restored the right way except for the white paint which should of been cream. I would rather pay 27k for that 7040 then pay anywheres from 3k-8k for a so called restored snap coupler tractor that has been spray bombed, decales on wrong, after market parts on it including switching the electrical system from 6 volt to 12 volt. I am just saying if you are going to restore a great allis tractor have some pride and do it right. TAKE YOUR TIME DOING IT!!!!!! Guys restored means put back to original condition and sometimes it cost a pretty penny to do it.

It may be high priced for an 7040 but if it was a D21 people would pay it, right? Or if it was 4440 Deere

As much as I bleed orange, as subjects like this go I am embarrassed to be orange. Great looking AC and the guy gets hung for wrong color wheels and price (anyone can ask anything they want). At least he didn't put yellow wheels on it !!!
Where in the ad does it say restored to factory? Why is this picked apart, but a week ago the narrow front 200 was applauded and drooled over? Don't get me wrong, I loved the 200 too, and some drool was my own. Get over the white wheels, a year in the fields it will not matter that much, will it? I'm thankful the pictures of my "rebuilt" WD45 in 1978 will never be posted. I was so proud of my HS project, but you guys would have ripped my heart out because looking back on it, things were not factory perfect. Just curious, where is the line a person crosses from being congratulated to being condemned on this site? Edited by WestAllisWD45 - 20 Mar 2016 at 8:32am |

Don't mean to be picky, but that tractor is a 1976 model. It's still damn nice for a forty year old tractor.

If I had extra cash to toss around that tractor would be in my shed right now............. but I'd want to see what exactly has been done to it first. I'd take that 7040 over any 4440 or 1086.
