What Are These C's Worth?

Looking at a couple of C's for my 8 year old.  First is an 80,xxx serial number.  Sheet metal is good other than grill has been creased good and the toolbox has been rusted and repaired.  Missing genny, but looks like it runs.  I plan on checking them over better today.  What is the drawbar on the back of this one?  Not in the parts book.  Steering on this one has the 1/4 turn of play and the shifter turns on this one.




Second looks rougher and has either a 5,xxx or 50,xxx serial number (can't see well).  Steering and shifter are tighter.  This one has 11.2 tires, the first has 12.4.  Not sure this one runs.  What would the mower be worth?  He wants to buy one with a mower so he can take it off and sell it to buy a sickle mower and maybe a set of plows.





Hoping to pick one of these up cheap.  if not, I can fall back to a local antique jockey that has a C with a belly mower.  These 2 would be my preference though.

I didn't think a C was worth that much.  Heck, I can buy good WD's all day long for that kind of money.  I could see a CA bringing that though.  The loop I know is the hitch, but no where in the parts book is that A frame setup found on a C.  Aftermarket to get to ASAE dimensions?

Tires alone on the first one would cost most of the 800-1000.

Jay, he may be a bit short now, but it's something he really wants to do.  When we go look them over again today, I'm going to see how they "fit" him.  It sure would be nice to hear them run, but I'd be ok with not stuck.  Half the fun of owning them is getting them running.  Think I'm going to take a pipe wrench and try to turn them through the pto.

Drawbars made aftermarket for Allis Bs abd Cs by oxnards i paid $100 each 1o years ago at Le Seuer

The draw bar on the first one is a swinging draw bar. It and the ASAE draw bar were both add ones to bring the hitch point bac to enable use of standard equipment.assuming they run the first one should go from 600 to 1200 and the second one about 500 more. The mower is a L 59. I bought a new woods L306 15 years ago it was over 2000 at that time they still make them so parts are readily available just not cheep. You can usually buy three WD,s for the price of one CA. These engines are pretty simple and forgiving. If they turn over they'll run.

I agree with Charlie completely.  Can't give it away if you own it, but when you need it, it's sky high!  Kinda like my stock market picks, buy high, sell low.  I'll never be able to retire!

Interesting. That isn't in my 1950 parts manual. Haven't picked up an OP manual yet.

I'm with you, Charlie.  My fear is no one will say they are stuck.  I honestly thought the better looking one ran.  I could go a bit more on that one just because it has near new rubber on the rear and the sheet metal does look good.  I have 5 to choose from, will start with watching these two and go from there.
