What's with the way the 185's hand clutch will grind when you put it in. Even if you have the foot clutch in and you go from low to high or high to low it grinds unless you give it time. It's actually better when you don't have the foot clutch in; it catches fast but not too fast.

If the Powerdirector\ handclutch is grinding - you have big problems !!! There are clutch plates and steel plates in the clutch housing ; they compress under oil pressure to move the tractor; when the clutches break - most do over time and wear- the clutch hubs then wear; and those get expensive !!! One sides $1600 new from AGCO ; the other side they dont make no more ; most junkyards got em but they are pricey !!! Is the tractor still moving ?? Hopefully Im wrong but theres only so much in there to cause grinding

With the foot clutch in, it still grinds? That sounds more like hydraulic noise maybe. Nothing should be rotating down in the 2spd when the foot clutch is depressed, so therefore shouldn't be any grinding noise.
Could it possibly be main clutch going? or the trowout bearing?

I believe I understand what you are talking out. I would call it more of a grunt than a grind. I think it has something to do with the power director being hydraulic. I'm sure someone else understands this much better than I do. Ours is a 1980 and does the same thing.

Okay yeah, I should take a video of it. I'm sure it's what you're talking about, hydraulic not gears grinding. It's just annoying as we never grind gears around here.
