I got a battery for my G. It's 6 volts and positive ground. But now it has now spark and I'm mad again. I knew it couldn't just work. So I take back what I said about all the tractors here being in great running condition.

Check the points to see if spark there , if so pull the center wire oncoil and see if spark from HT lead to ground, if so check the carbon brush in cap. Process of elimination. Could be as simple as a bad wire, bad switch, corrosion , or all the above.

Life lesson: If you’re being chased by a lion, you’re on a horse, to the left of you is a giraffe and on the right is a unicorn, what do you do? You stop drinking and get off the carousel.

You don't mention whether your G was pos or neg ground before, so just in case it was last wired as neg ground you ought to check that coil is wired correctly for pos ground. Should have pos terminal connected to distributor.

Daniel, I just went through this trying to get my wife's MM Avery Model V to run after several years without. Used a DC test light. I had an open circuit to the coil, so ran a jumper from the battery. Still no spark. Looked in the dist. several times, put in a new condensor, no good yet. Then found that the points were grounding on the dist.body.(guess I did that when I put in the cond.):>( Corrected that and had power to dist. Got on and she took off. Don't get frustrated. It may be some simple thing and probably is. Bob@allisdowneast

run a matchbook cover between the points to clean them. They may just be dirty and not making contact. Apiece of sandpaper will work also, just don't over do it. Bob

Did'nt have any spark on my G one time,,,tried everything, then just for the heck of it I put a condenser I had in the cabnet on it and it fired right up,thought maybe I just did not have the other condenser hooked up thight so I put the other one back on and it had no spark so I took it off and put the one from the cabnet back on and it has been working fine ever since...Wayne.
