AC 912 Hydro Ignition

Hi there,
I am the proud new owner of a 912H. It currently does not run but is in damn good condition considering I only paid $250. It needs an ignition switch and battery, as well as a few other small parts.
Problem is, I can't seem to find out exactly which ignition switch I need. If someone could point me in the right direction, I'd be very thankful!

Just one more question (so far) lol, I'm having some trouble figuring out what battery to buy. I know the service manual, etc call for a 12V 45AH battery, I'm seeing a ton of 12V 35AH but no 45s. Does it matter?

Ok cool. Sounds perfect. Mine has the circle adapters. Do by any chance know the deck belt number? Haven't gotten that far yet, but may as well ask while we're at it.

It's a 48" Deck

someone before you must have added that 48" deck,i think 912's all came with the 42" deck according to original brochures,the 48" was started with the 916,along with wider rear rims and tires.

if you have a 42" deck, the belt number is 248-084 

It's definitely a 48" deck. I really wanted a 712 Hydro, that's what my father had when I was a boy. Settled for the 912 for now. Hopefully I can find a 712H and sell this one at some point. Would love to fully restore 712, top to bottom.

Do you have power to the lights or elsewhere?
You may want to check the circuit breaker or the connections on the breaker. Looking from the front of the tractor, It is a small rectangle box mounted on the wall below and to the left of the solenoid. It will have 2 wires coming out of it.

Sure sounds like it could be the circuit breaker. I have had them go bad or the post corrode off. The wire usually has a sleeve type connector that pushes on the threaded post. You can loose connection there as well. Some folks will cut the sleeve off and put a connector on the end and tighten it with a nut on the post.
The last breaker I bought was at oreillys auto. It was around $3 but the thing i liked was that is was built here in the USA by Littelfuse. Can't buy many things that are built here anymore.

Yeah you are right there Craig ma' man! Its gettin' tougher and tougher. We handle a lot of electrical components from Littlefuse mainly because its USA made. So far we've been dartin' that Chinese crap! As Craig mentioned, all power comes in through the circuit breaker from the Battery. The wiring around the engine area gets so brittle from the heat, that you may have a break somewhere, or like Craig said, corrosion is a big factor on these old Garden Tractors, especially if they were left out in the rain during their life span...

To add to the Battery question, I use the small Gell Batteries where you don't have to worry so much about the acid removing the paint off your Tractor especially after putting a nice paint job on them. The group number is a U1 which is used for wheelchairs & recreational equipment. You can pick em' up at Napa to. Their P/N is 8228 I believe.

Thanks guys! From what I'm reading, any 3 pole solenoid should work. Steve, I can't find anything that looks similar to the breaker in my tractor. I'll post pics of what's in there as soon as I figure out how lol.
