I'd guess the pins and bushings are bad, that's why the sprocket is junk. If the engine is locked up it would be worth close to what unsorted scrap is worth.

I bought a HD3 from my dad's neighbor last fall.  I paid 1800 for it.  It did not run, but the engine was loose.   I ended up having to have the injector pump gone through, 400, and am currently going through all the odds and ends.  Most of the coolant hoses were drycracked, so I have all that apart replacing those.  Two out of about a hundred hyd. hoses are cracked, that's apart.  One hyd ram is leaking.   Mine the undercarriage is like new.  It has only 1200 hours on the hourmeter and i know that my dad's neighbor bought it new and it was only used on the farm.  I don't know enough to tell you what yours is worth.  Parts are available, but can be expensive.  Kips estimate may be right.  If it were me, that would be the most I would pay for it, and if stuck maybe less.  If you go on the construction forum and search for HD3, there have been alot of posts lately.
