Would this pump be sufficient mounted off the crank?
I would like to have a full hydraulic loader.
I could do it 2 ways. Mount it on the front using the hand crank hole/shaft or mount it underneath and use a chain drive off the crank and use a smaller pulley on the pump to maximize the output as much as possible since a WD is only rated at 1400 rpm.
I would rather have too much than not enough.
Other question. How do you look at a pump to tell which directional rotation it is?
May seem like dumb questions, but I don't know and to me it's only dumb if you don't ask.
I appreciate any input to steer me the right direction.
You guys know your Allis stuff and there is alot of experience here.

Rotation is facing the shaft. Put it on the crank if you can.

I wouldn't worry about speeding up that pump off of the engine too much. At 1800 rpm that pump put's out 25 gpm which will shake your tractor to pieces just in the inertia of the loader moving so fast. That pump seems like a reasonable deal to me at $270 but I would probably slow it down from crank speed. That would give you a loader with more control and cycle times which are still amung the best in the industry today. for what it's worth I would try to run that at 900 rpm max which would give you approx 12 gpm. Even most of the new tractors under 100hp only put 16-18 gpm to a loader and they are filling cylinders much larger than what you are going to have on a WD. Good luck in whatever you decide.

It's the wrong rotation for mounting out front. You would have to mount it with the shaft forward to use it. You may want to look at a smaller pump. This pump would require 28 hp at 2000 psi and 25.9 gpm. kev/ont makes a good point also. I would get a pump that gives you 10-12 gpm. Try Surplus Center https://www.surpluscenter.com/home.asp |

Tooo big !!! needs to be 8 to 12 gpm.....rotation is incorrect for direct crank driven installation. I wouldn't think about using a chain drive.....belt only (I'd still prefer direct driven).

I agree, 8 GPM, 2500 psi tops will do just fine. Your not loading trucks in a gravel pit.

Thanks gentlemen for the info.
I found 2 other options that are in the ballpark of what you are telling me.
Got the rotation thing down now.
Vane pump. Wasn't sure if these are adequate.
Gear pump.
Whatever I decide I think it will have to be around a 2.0 cu.in. pump.
Is that correct?
Not real hydraulic saavy with loaders. I will be though.
Probably go with direct drive off the crank.

There was a man around here that used a F or F2 hdy pump on a d14 for a loader and also power steering was a pretty nice job too he mounted it in front of the radiator and ran it off the crank with a ford coupler and shaft I think he had a 400 series loader with the oil tank in the frame Niel
