Does your club have a no stripping rule?
Lot of rumbling at most of the local pulls where guys are really stripping off everything they can to get in the lighter classes. Is it fair for a higher HP tractor to now pull in a 1,000lb or more lighter class than what it was shipped?
I see all brands of tractors with no PTO's or hydraulics or fenders pulling in the stock classes. Now if they want to pull in the modified class, go ahead. The affect I see is that fewer smaller tractors are showing up as they don't have the power to go head to head.
Opinions?
This would be in typical 3.5 mph classes.

the association i am in lets us, which is why i have removed all that stuff also, but we also dictate different drawbar lenght and height rules and have a slower speed limit to even it out and keep the modified tractors out as much as we can. also, remember that losing weight isnt always an advantage as you lose traction as well

I have seen clubs with rules that state that you can't pull lighter class than factory advertised shipping weight. I never attended any of them.....

Our club has a no stripping rule and we are also required to wear shoes! If you can't make weight with your clothes on hire a lighter jockey!! LOL... Kip

Our club has it, but it is pretty loosely enforced. As long as it is stock appearing, fenders, sheet metal, etc., you're usually OK. Doesn't matter where you are; people are always going to push the limit as far as they can.
