what are you putting it in, whats the speed limit at the pull, if it is slow like mine which is 2.5 mph max, 38s will be useless, as you will go too fast

That Leroy don't spin that fast I think?
I thought I have seen a WC with 38s pulling modified stock and I know he was spinning way more than my little WC also I have a Rc rear end in my WC witch slows it down more yet I think I could get by with 38"s I just don't want to shell out 500 bucks on wheel adapters |

I like the flat 201 Leroi heads better than any of the Allis heads. They can be ported much better than the Allis ones because of some of the internal coreing used when they were cast. They will flow better when done correctly, when not done correctly though you're better off with an Allis head. If you're pullng 2.5 or 4 mph though it won't matter, you won't need that much air.
The 201 Leroi crank is probably stronger and better than the Allis cranks also. The forgings are different from the start. The metal used is also "different". I can't say how but it just seams like better material and is less prone to cracking (don't ask me how I know).
Some people think that some of the Leroi manifolds are better, but I gotta say I've worked on them, worked on the Allis or new re-cast versions. I'd rather not use the Leroi manifold.
Cams and rods are slightly different also. You've got some good parts to start with to keep and use if you chose to do some modifications later on, weather they be extensive or just useing parts from other Allis or Leroi engines to bolt togather something easy and cheap. I read on here someone said it was only rated at 35 hp
And stock I think it is 4 inch bore 4 inch stroke But I was told it has been rebuilt so it is probably a 4/1'8 bore now So should be closer to a wd45 HP one would awsome? What is a good set up for modified stock pulling? Should I start with the crank or go bigger valves it would be nice to get 50hp or even maybe a little more with out beefing it up to the point where I can't pull the hay rack or disk around anymore with out over heating the engine? I know there are all kinds of combos but I think 50 HP Would be able to give me a chance in the 3500 and 4500 pound modified class My friend has msd ignition but I don't know at what compretion you have to run a higher spark and fuel? I have pulled stock class for gears but I want to get a little more HP and see what I can throw togather It is starting from the ground up motor is a Leroy needs tires and rims thinking of running 38s but want to build a motor first with the knowledge of some of the good pullers here and maybe some ball parks of what this would cost me to get the HP I'm after out of that Leroy I have? |
