was wondering how much hp a nine spring button clutch will hold before it will start slipping. I was thinking about putting one in my WD45 pulling tractor I'm in the process of finishing up.

9 spring WD45 pressure plate with a FOUR button (on a side) from a K-K2 Gleaner combine will hold 100 HP alright. What have you done with your hand clutch?????????????? |

If it is eliminated, there is zero chance of it slipping, plus you can loose maybe 30 pounds of weight.

Tractor has to be split underneath the battery box. Once the hand clutch assembly is unbolted from the PTO drive gear, you'll see that if you had a second PTO drive gear (even one with gear teeth missing) you could easily bolt the two together with bolts and locknuts and roll it back together. Problem solved. Now you can remove the hand clutch lever for more weight reduction.

so from what I'm gathering is that I just need to remove the clutch assembly and find another pto drive gear. and it doesn't matter if it is missing gear teeth and bolt it to the existing pto drive gear and bolt it back together.

That is what I do with any WD Puller. Use Grade 8 bolts......and you will see a lip or flange on each gear for the hand clutch to pilot onto. I always grind the lip off of both gears so they fit tight together.

A FOUR button disc (4 on a side)....not six or eight or whatever some clutch builder thinks is a good idea. And four small size buttons, not huge ones. Even three buttons would be fine.
