I have several Allis tractors that have the push-button ether injection. They all have the decal that says something like "crank engine while using." Makes sense to me, but what doesn't make sense, is that all the ether injectors are powered off the "on" post of the ignition switch. If  A-C wanted to make sure operators did not inject ether while the engine was not being cranked, they should have powered the injector off the starter post of the ignition.... just always wondered why they did it that way.

I have seen guys in the dead of winter keep "spiking" with ether to keep them running till the temp is high enough in the cylinder to run as normal. I could never do it but if that is what it takes and no time of availability of a block heater.

I heard one time of a corporate farm that couldn't keep their cummins engines holding up in the four wheel drive tractors. Finally a cummins rep went out to the place and rode with one of the hired hands running one of the tractors that wasn't staying together. Story goes that when they came to a hill and needed a little extra power, he was hitting the ether button to get it. Darrel
