I have been tracking the progress of two MO Allis collectors since they left Montivedio GOTO, It seems they blew a tire near Sioux City IA after fixing the tire they ran into a traffic Jam only to find out a semi trailer loaded with cartoned milk had hit an expressway pillar. The comment from them was "there was milk everywhere" having made it through there later down the road, Another flat tire, found a tire shop bought a tire and as they were getting back on the road stopped for fuel and pulled up to pump 13, not a good number the way there day has been going. Back on the road again, I will post more after my next update from them. I think traveling with this pair sounds like quite and adventure.

Is it the two "A" tractor boys from the great state of MO. we are talking about? If it is them I may go look at my trailer just to see if all the tires are still on there. lol

The wife and I saw them straping down their A's as we were leaving the GOTO right after church. We went north which sounds like a good thing, made it home about 3:30 no problems 260 miles.

those two must have the bad luck together. I was talking to JW at the banquet and he was telling me a story of another trip they made and hit a deer just shortly after they left.

All I can say is, if'n my tractor was electric start like some people I know, (MN Mafia), I probably wouldn't have had the strength to get er done.

Had to drop off the trailer at a mans farm at dark last night after 3 blowouts. When tires go bad, they must all go bad. Got new tire on and the trailer is home now. I sent JW to work and I cleaned up the mess. Dave.

Dave,
It seems like trips to MN do not agree with you. This one had to be tough, but at least you didn't feel like you did after LeSueur last year.... Glenn

Dave, Know what you mean about trailor tires. I went to load up at Dales in July and Matt just happened to look at tire and said, that looks like tread separation. Put two new ones on and got down here just fine. Now, I've noticed the other two look bad so will have to replace before the next use of my trailor.

Matt I also heard of the infamous trip to OH and after thinking about their adventures together, I think they might want to look for different traveling partners, I think one of them is bad luck, and they both say it the other one. lol

Good tires to start with makes a big difference. A lot of trailers have old pick up tires on them. They are already old when they were put on and weather cracked.

How do you know? I inspected the tires before we left, no cracks, tread looked good, around 5 years old however. I guess just a combination of heavy weight and age of tires. The trailer was hooked to a strange truck, maybe it made the trailer nervous. Dave.

My experience is that trailer tires seem to fail in batches! I've had terrible luck with Maxxis brand tires on more than one trailer. The last one separated and blew while mounted on the spare tire mount!!

Still calculating the cost of this trip, good for the economy I suppose. Dave suplemented the tire trade and I am doing wonders for the parts business. It all started when we noticed that my brake controller wouldn't work on his trailer so $150 and 3 hours later we were on the road to MN. The trip up and back required about 3 gallons of antifreeze so the weak point is finally found, have to pull the truck in the shop and do a head gasket replacement along with related preventive maintenance. I believe it's time to upgrade to a TRUCK that is built to haul STUFF.
All in all, I had one of the best times ever. Good company for the trip, it's priceless to have someone with you who can maintain a good attitude during adversity, met a lot of people I had only heard of, talked to people I already knew and enjoyed a great banquet. My throat was soar for three days after I got home from all the talking and laughing. Being the relative newcomer to the Allis crowd I felt very welcome and the trip was worth whatever it took. Thanks to everyone for the time and concerns.
